U.R.A.A second stock of the season

This morning was the second stocking of the U.R.A.A water the Llyn Fawr.
It was a bitter start to the day with a light dusting of snow on the mountain. I wasn't happy as it was my turn to go in the stock pond at net the fish. We put 250 rainbows in this morning at 10:00am.
I think this season is kicking off to a good start as the fish are fighting fit and haven't over wintered to much, also there was a bit of good news this week as there are 16 new members joined the club some new and so0me who have fished the Llyn fawr in previous years.
The U.R.A.A offer great value for money as a day ticket for the Llyn is just £10 pounds for a 4 fish bag and a season ticket is just £110 which allows you to fish from the 3rd or March through till th e 15th of November
So if you fancy a day ticket either leave a comment with you email address and I will contact you or you can vist our fish farm and they can issue day tickets from there.
If you fancy becoming a member of the U.R.A.A then leave your email address on this post and I will contact you and give you guidance on how to do this.

A Hand Full Of Nymphs

Here are a hand full of nymphs (pardon the pun) that I tied the night before for our trip to the Taff on sunday most of the had a swim but none of the caught. Im sure they will at some point I hooe. Some of the stuff that I tie is derived from other people (blogs, books, safari, sneaky peeks into boxes) and that sort of stuff but most of them are just made up and I don't know weather that is a good or bad idea. Maybe I should stick to basics at the moment and follow suite, but on the other hand do I stick with it and be stuborn and possible not catch as many fish if any at all using stuff that I have just made up.
I don't know but it would be a great experience to start a new fly fishing discipline from scratch and put my own methods and flies in the deep end (another pun not intended) weather this is a good idea I don't know.

First Trip To The River Taff

Well im gona start this one off with a big middle finger to the great welsh weather.
It was a nice week leading up to sunday and tipically the weather done a patchy on us. but never mind being the devoted fisherman we are we still got into the freezing cold River Taff. We got in the river just a few hundred yards down from Radyr train station and worked our way up the river trying diffrent methonds and flies and basically everything we had to throw at the little fish but we had nothing to the net. Had a couple of offers but that was it. We worked our way up to Radyr weir and we ended up scratching our heads  wondering wot to do next.
So we walked all the way down to where we got into the river had a bite to eat and started all over again. After all wot we did through the day Dai was finally rewarded with a grayling and he was chuffed to bits as was I as this was his first ever grayling. So I dug a similar fly out of my box and give it a swim and then after a few cast I was also then rewarded with my first ever grayling. We managed to catch a few more after that,BUT then the weather really bit hard and broke the pair of us and we had to get out of the rive but at this point we didn't care as we had achieved wot we set out to do. I was glad that we both caught fish and glad to get back into that warm car. So I don't know when we will go again but next time I hope the weather man gives us a break.

here are a few snaps from sunday
