First of all id like to say sorry to Big Al for the late blog.
last Sunday was the second round of the Garnfrwdd shield.
There was a good turn out again twenty anglers in total. The day was off to a good start and I landed five fish on the first couple of pegs including a tiger on the black zonker but it was short lived as I didn't manage to net a single fish after that, connected with a few but i just couldn't keep them on for some reason.
Anyway most of the fish were caught in the second half of the day and things were very tight until the last two pegs. Alan finished in first place with 9 fish in total and Dai finished in fifth place with a total of 7 fish so in the top 6 it was very tight. All in all it was a good day and although i had the bronze medal i still enjoyed.

Garnfrwdd 10th Febuary 2013
Did our weekly trip to Garnfrwdd trout fishery today and I had another good day. I managed to get 13 fish into the net today 12 rainbows and 1 brown. The fly of the day was a Blue Hackle Damsel ill blog a photo tomorrow for you to see. Dai managed 8 to the net 1 brown and 7 rainbows which he caught on one of his flexi legged blue damsels and Alan caught 10 rainbows also on a blue damsel pattern and a black Zonker.
The day started off weird one to be honest weather was bad and Alan decided to take an industrial staple gun and put a staple in my arse which I got to say really hurt felt like an electric shock.
It rained for the first hour or so with a few dry spells inbetween and then we stopped for a breakfast which is a must if you visit Garnfrwdd.
We did a few more hours of fishing and then stopped for a drink and a change of clothes and THEN I had my revenge when the boys the boys left the tent to resume fishinh I took the staple gun and stapled Alan's trainers to the decking HA HA HA .
so we fished until 4:30 and then we called it a day. In the week Dai rang me and said that he had bought a bronze medal for Alan as he has been struggling lately to catch over 5 fish and the irony of it was that Dai ended up getting the bronze medal LOL.
As you can see dai is over the moon with his prize.
So this is how the league is panning out so far
Rainbows Browns Tigers Total fish Total Points
Alan Martin 24 1 0 25 51
Dai Jones 22 2 0 24 50
Matthew pate 37 7 1 45 99

Garnfrwdd Trout Fishery 3rd Febuary 2013
Visited Garnfrwdd last sunday and had a blinding day managed to get 21 rainbows to the net and I lost quite a few fish as well including a monster fish on the very last cast of the day. The fish had three big runs and on the lsat run the fish got off (GUTTED).
Only Me and Dai (troutwrangler.blogspot.com) he managed to get 15 fish to the net he also lost quite a few fish BUT the fish we caught did not count towards the league as we agreed to only count the fish caught when Me Dai and Alan fish together, Which is a bummer as they would have been in big trouble as I would have broke the hundred point mark.
They still have some catching up to do. Hope the weather is ok for this weekend because I think we are doing the double.

1st garnfrwdd winter league competition
Today me Alan and Dai fished in the first competition of the year at Garnfrwdd trout fishery.
I drew a good first peg but was hampered by the wind but I managed to catch two fish from the first 1 brown and 2 rainbows. There was a good turn out today most where regulars but there were also a few new faces which is always a good thing, I caught one on the next peg and then did have a fish until the first peg after break. I manage to catch 6 on that peg two browns and four rainbows so that was a good peg for me then I move to peg 19 and in the first couple of cast hooked into another two browns. my first two fish where taken on a white u.v extreme lure and the rest where taken on a black zonker fished on a slow figure of eight retrieve.
THE RESULTS
1ST Chris Jones 16 fish 3 browns and 13 rainbows
2ND Matthew Pate (me) 11 fish 5 browns and 6 rainbows
3RD Lee Tatton 10 fish 3 browns and 7 rainbows
4TH Huw Weir 7 fish 1 brown and 6 rainbows (I think)
5TH Dai Jones 6 fish 1 brown and 5 rainbows
6TH Dan Graham 4 fish 2 browns and 2 rainbows
The next competition is on the 17th of febuary just hope that the wind.
