DIAWL BACH PROJECT 2013
Its been a while since I last blogged. Over the last few weeks I have been up to my eyeballs in work and my mam and dad have been renovating their house so I have been helping out up there, BUT I have still been out fishing on the weekend as much as I possibly can and still making time to tie some flies.
I will admit that I have been stuggling to think of things to blog about and want to keep it as fresh as possible. Being relatively new to this whole blogging thing I have realised that other bloggers that I follow pic themes and challenges. I on the other hand do not know wot to themes or projects to pick.
So what I am going to do is pick a simple project to start off with and go from there.
Now we all now of the legendary fly that is called the Diawl Bach im sure every angler has used one at some point in his life as this is a trusted and proven pattern in all types of water and in many country's.
What I have decided to do is to tie up a few different variant's and try them on the water's that I fish. and see which one does the best and keep a record of it. I am also going to try and do a step by step tying of a the Famous pattern for all to see. Now I know there is nothing special about the tying of a Diawl Bach and there are probally hundreds of step by steps out there but I think its nessary for this little project.
This project or challenge that I have decided to take on may not be to everyone's liking but I imagine there are many people out there who like myself along time ago who have never fished anything other than lure's and I am not saying that everyone who fish lure's are in the wrong and I like nothing more than to put one of my trusted go to lures on have the trout smash and them to bits.
I just think that New fly fisher man should be given the information that allows them to fish different styles and method's of fly fishing as there are so many to utilise.
I am going to do this project/challenge starting from today and have all ready tied up a few Diawl's which I will be giving a swim at garnfrwd trout fishery on sunday where I am fishing a fundraiser competition which Is being held to help raise money foe the 2013 International Welsh Bank Team
who are representing Wales in the international competition that is being held in Scotland in October.
So here is a little taster of what is to come
The first pic Is of a Diawl Bach that I have been using for a bit and has caught me a few trout and the difference with this pattern is I have used Coq De Leon for the tail and throat hackle which I think gives it a nice little edge. And the second one is fresh of the vice and something completely different to normal its a Diawl Bach using the Cats whisker colour's green white and red.
